‘March Merriment 2008’
The Friends of Baxter Memorial Library are presenting a program called “March Merriment 2008” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at the library, 71 South St.
History professors Dr. Draper Hunt and Dr. John Sutherland will present a special lecture as part of the library’s centennial celebration. The focus of their lecture will be Maine and the nation during the time when the library was built 100 years ago.

Road show for historians
The Gorham Historical Society will host the antique road show program at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 10, at the Gorham Savings Bank Operations Center off Gray Road.
Tim Gould will identify and appraise antiques taken to the meeting by society members and the public. Each person may take two items.
Jan Labrecque, president of the society, said refreshments would be served. The meeting was originally scheduled for January but was postponed because of weather.
Marketplace nears
The Gorham Business & Civic Exchange will host its 11th annual Marketplace on Saturday, March 15, in the field house on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine.
The event attracts thousands and features business booths, live entertainment, food court and kids activities. It showcases local products and services. Admission is free to the public.

King on dean’s list
Garrett King has been named to the dean’s list at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., for the fall semester. King is an undeclared liberal arts major.
