After reading the article on the inauguration and election (Jan. 10 American Journal), I wanted to respond to the remarks made by some of the people. Some of them were very inconsiderate and insulting to the mayor.
First, Colleen Hilton did not support Mayor Bruce Chuluda because she wanted “fresh, new energy and creating new ideas.” I believe that is what we need on the council and school committees. I’m sure she supports the superintendent collecting his pension and still getting paid from the city.
Councilor Drew Gattine is not happy with the outcome of Tina Crellin’s getting all that money, but I heard no comment on the superintendent.
Also, for councilors Brendan Rielly and Suzanne Joyce being so disappointed that Jim Violette did not win so they could work as a team, maybe they should try working with the mayor as a team. It seems they are ready to blame the mayor for not working with them but no blame on the council. Doesn’t cooperation work both ways?
I’m sure if Mr. Violette had won, you would have the support to pass anything you people want because he is not a people person, either. Apparently, the rules only work one way.
I haven’t seen one councilor spend one Saturday morning a month at City Hall to hear what people have to say. That is because you don’t care what people say.
People in this city can’t afford you people, who have good-paying jobs. Just take a ride around and see how much property is for sale since the revaluation. I believe the council supported this and said it was the state. Did they ever try to postpone this? Pr maybe they saw all that money coming in.
I want to congratulate Mayor Chuluda. We need more people representatives in this city.
