The Cape Elizabeth boys and girls swim teams hosted Falmouth on Monday afternoon and the Capers came away with a split decision. The Cape boys topped the Yachtsmen (107-41) while the Cape girls lost a close decision to their Falmouth counterparts (103-82).
Cape’s individual wins on the boys side included Christopher Makrides (200 freestyle and 100 butterfly), Paul Wennberg (50 free), Christopher Bouchard (100 free), and James McKinney (100 backstroke).
The Capers also won the 200-medley relay (Bouchard, Wennberg, Zachary Gavin and Sean Campbell) and the 200 freestyle relay race (Gavin, Wennberg, Peter Alexander, and Bouchard).
The Cape Elizabeth girls had individual wins from Rosie Wennberg (50 free), Melanie Pinette (one-meter diving), and Nora Daly (500 free).
Cape had second-place efforts from Daly in the 200 free, Helen Evans in the 200 individual medley, Wennberg in the 100 free, Paige St. Germain in the 500 free, Madeleine Spagnola in the 100 back and Abigail Armstrong in the 100 breaststroke.
On Thursday of last week, the Cape swim teams hosted Westbrook. Both Cape squads emerged with wins over the Blazes – the boys by a narrow 90-85 score and the girls with a much more convincing 114-66 margin.
Cape’s boys had individual wins from Zachary Gavin in the 200 IM and the 100 fly and Christopher Bouchard in the 100 free. And the Capers won the 200-medley relay (behind the efforts of Miles Kelley, Stephen Monaghan, Gavin and Bouchard) and the 200 freestyle relay (Wennberg, Bouchard, Gavin and Kelley).
The Cape girls had individual wins from Daly (50 free and 100 free), Pinette (one-meter diving), Evans (100 fly), Rosie Wennberg (500 free), and Armstrong (100 breaststroke).
