The Storm dodged a bullet midway through the first period when Moses Brown had a goal waved off. Following that, the Storm came to life again, taking the play to Moses Brown, with most of the faceoffs coming in front of the Moses Brown net.
Moses Brown tied the game at 6:47 of the second period, Derek Army took a pass from Douglas Richard and got through the Scarborough defense, popping one past goalie Matt Mayo to tie the score at one.
The score stayed tied until 13:29 of the second period when Scarborough’s Trevor Hoxsie poked in a power play goal off a scrum in front of the net to give the Red Storm a 2-1 lead. Jacob Rutt was credited with the assist on Hoxie’s goal.
The Storm took a 3-1 lead at 8:47 of the third period when Jim Soules took a pass from Hunter Wood and blasted it home to put the Storm up by two.
Scarborough added a fourth goal on a power play when Hoxsie got the puck in the corner, he passed it out to Rutt, who was waiting at the point, and Rutt blasted it home to give the Storm a 4-1 lead.
Moses Brown made a game of it late, as the visitors refused to give up. They cut the lead to 4-2 with just seven seconds left as Army got his second goal of the game, once again with an assist from Richard.
Then with just .01 left on the clock, Moses Brown struck again. As the two teams battled in front of the net, Andrew Kacz snuck one home to cut the lead to 4-3 as time expired.
