The man shot by a deputy sheriff in November will be arraigned on various charges Jan. 8 in York County Superior Court in Alfred, according to District Attorney Mark Lawrence.
Peter Ronfeldt, 28, 11 Harmon Pines, West Buxton, was indicted by a York County grand jury this month on charges from an incident Nov. 3 in which he was shot by a Cumberland County deputy sheriff in Limington. The charges include criminal threatening with a weapon, which is a Class C crime, and endangering the welfare of a child (neglect), a Class D offense. He was also indicted on a charge of burglary with a firearm, a Class A crime.
In the Limington incident, police said Ronfeldt pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at Deputy Andrew Feeney when he responded at 11:30 p.m. to a domestic dispute between the suspect and his father, Alexander Ronfeldt, at 58 River Road. Feeney then fired at Peter Renfeldt. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said Feeney responded to a call for assistance from York County.
Peter Ronfeldt was arrested and taken to Maine Medical Center before he was transported to York County Jail. No one else was injured and Feeney was placed on administrative leave, pending a customary investigation by the attorney general’s office.
