Check scam
Police warned the public Wednesday about a check scam. A resident had received a UPS Express envelope containing what appeared to be a check for $5,000. The recipient was instructed to wire the funds to the sender after keeping a small “processing award.” The check was bogus and, had the recipient followed the instructions, would have had an overdraft.
Purse stolen
On Nov. 30, at around 1:30 p.m., a Scarborough resident reported her purse was stolen from her car Tuesday night, which was parked at the Blockbuster parking lot. A check that was in the purse was cashed.
Purse stolen 2
On Dec. 1, at around 1:30 p.m., a resident of Steep Falls reported the theft of a purse and credit cards from Planet Fitness.
Intruder
On Dec. 3, at around 6 a.m., a resident of Woodmont Street reported a male in his 20s wearing black ski pants, glasses and a hooded black winter coat in his garage when he returned home.
Car burglary
On Dec. 6, at around 7 a.m., a resident of King Street reported her garage and vehicle were broken into overnight.
