The Southwestern Maine Activities Association recently released its 2007 boys and girls soccer all-star teams and the rosters include a large number of players from both Bonny Eagle and Windham.

Bonny Eagle junior Jamie Ruginski made the second team all-stars for his play at the forward position. And the Scots’ Richie Harvey (junior midfielder), Khamla Mickelson (junior midfielder), and Keith McClure (senior back) were all named as honorable mentions.

The Scots also had four players earn spots on the league’s All-Academic team: Tyler Fox, Keith McClure, Andrew Serfling and Tyler Shortsleeve.

The Windham boys soccer team had three players receive honorable mention status: senior forward Josh Young, junior midfielder Tyler Littlefield, and senior back Tyler Tenney.

Bonny Eagle’s Connie Grovo (sophomore midfielder) was selected to the girls second team all-star squad and the Scots’ Melissa Carrier (sophomore forward) was an honorable mention.

The Scots also had four players make the All-Academic team: Robin Cyr, Victoria Negus, Rachel Porter and Emily Soucy.

Vanessa Rallis of the Windham girls soccer team was chosen as one of two SMAA Student-Athletes of the Year. She shared the award with Alexandra Aceto of Westbrook.

The Windham’s girls soccer team also had four players on the first or second all-star teams and two more receiving honorable mention.

Senior forward Jess Taylor was the Eagles’ first team all-star. The Eagles’ three second team all-star included Nicole Ross (junior midfielder), Riley McCarthy (freshman back), and Fiona Mills (junior back). Windham’s honorable mention selections were Audrey Quigley (junior forward) and Keisha Williams (freshman goalkeeper).

Windham’s Rallis and Jessica York both made the SMAA All-Academic team.
