Brown’s birthday honor
A large contingent honored Sheila Brown recently on her 70th birthday with a party at the American Legion hall on Dunn Street.
A report said Brown wassurprised when she walked in to see 90 family members and friends, who turned out for the special occasion. Several spoke about how she had made a difference in their lives and the group donated $250 in her honor to the “Help Foster Children Fund.”
A potluck lunch with a variety of hot and cold dishes was served.
Court Jesters in local benefit
Westbrook’s Valentine Hose Co. No. 2 is conducting its annual fundraising campaign for the sale of advertisements and tickets to its upcoming Court Jesters Comedy Basketball
Game at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Westbrook High School gymnasium.
People and area businesses will be called in the next several weeks for contributions. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be directed toward local scholarship funds, local youth athletics and smoke and carbon dioxide detectors that will be distributed free of charge to the elderly and low-income residents of Westbrook.
