The Cape Elizabeth football team just keeps on rolling.

The Capers (8-0) have just surrendered 28 points all season long, and continued their class B dominance with a 29-0 win on the road over Lake Region (2-6) Friday night.

The Capers were led by Tom Foden, who had three touchdowns to go along with almost 70 rushing yards. Foden scored on runs of 10 and 16 yards, and he also caught an eight-yard touchdown from quarterback Jim Bump.

The Capers also got scores from Adam Damilson, who scored on a six-yard pass from Bump, and Ian Wallace, who kicked a 34-yard field goal late in the second quarter.

The Capers will face a strong test this Friday night as they host powerful Mountain Valley. The undefeated Falcons have also dominated the competition this season, allowing just 32 points all season. The Falcons come into the game, which will be at Hannaford Field at 7 p.m., off a 49-12 home win against York Friday night.

Red Riots take ‘Battle of the Bridge’

For the first time this century, the South Portland Red Riots can claim a win over rival Portland.

The Riots (3-5) got the win in the 92nd playing of the so-called “Battle of the Bridge” against the Bulldogs (1-7), outscoring Portland 27-6 at Fitzpatrick Stadium to get the Riots’ first win against the Bulldogs since 1999 and the team’s 51st in the series, which began in 1907.

South Portland put the game away in the first half behind the efforts of Ryan Curit, who finished the game with just under 160 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, with all the scores coming in the first half.

Curit got his first score on his first rushing attempt of the game, after the Riots’ Nick Gaddar returned a punt to the Bulldogs’ 18, Curit broke through the line and headed into the end zone. Curit added a one-yard score on the Riots’ next drive.

South Portland got its third touchdown with just over five minutes remaining in the half when quarterback David Hardison hit Gaddar for a 48-yard score to make the score 20-0.

Curit made the game 27-0 late in the half when he busted through the Bulldogs’ defense for a 43-yard touchdown.
