As a resident of Ward 4, I was struck by the Oct. 11 letter from Ida Bilodeau. I have not experienced the kind of crime that she is referring to and I live right around the corner from her.

My question is this: What has the current mayor and administration done to address these problems? I was trying to figure out why Ida directed her displeasure at Jim Violette.

Jim Violette is a very dedicated community volunteer, but Jim has not been running our city for the past two years. Jim hasn’t’ been serving as a city councilor for the past two years, either. I do have great hope that Jim will be running our city for the next few years. I have always found Jim to be extremely responsive to any concerns that I have brought forward.

I think Ida should be calling the current mayor and administration to demand some action to address what sounds like a really scary neighborhood issue. Has she called our city leaders and had her concerns ignored? I can hear the frustration loud and clear about wanting a safe neighborhood. We all do.

I would encourage anyone who has not had their concerns addressed to go to the polls on Nov. 6 and vote for change. I, for one, will be voting for someone who greatly values the many neighborhoods in our city; someone who is familiar with and committed to improving our city. My vote will be cast for Jim Violette for m0ayor.
