I’m writing this letter in support for Jim Violette for mayor of Westbrook.

Our families have known each other since 1997. We have “rubbed elbows” at church, Cub and Boy Scouts, T-ball, Seals swimming and many neighborhood activities. I have watched Jim as a past president of the Westbrook City Council, zoning board member, current member of the Junior High School Building Reuse Committee and numerous other city-wide committees. He is a hard worker who is also highly regarded in his field of business, financial planning, and has relocated his business to Westbrook a couple of years ago.

Jim typifies the strong family values that are so important to our community. He has a vision of economic development that is consistent with those values: fiscally responsible, ultimately producing tax revenues that would lessen the financial tax burden on us, the residential taxpayers, without compromising the values of our community.

His children are in the Westbrook school system along with ours. Because Jim works and lives here, he has a 100 percent commitment to our city and is very aware of the issues and concerns facing our community.

Jim can, and will, manage our city very well. Jim is a proven, effective leader and communicator, and has demonstrated a strong ability to build consensus among various individuals and stakeholder groups. With his experience and talent, he will make Westbrook a better place for all of us from Day one of his administration.
