A disaster relief and prevention program will be held at Scarborough High School cafeteria, Saturday Oct. 13, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Panel discussions will cover such topics as preparing an emergency kit, evacuation plans, emergency shelters available in Scarborough how to secure your home in an emergency, what to do with pets when disaster strikes and knowing when it is safe to return home. A special set of instructions for elderly and disabled community members will also be given.

Panel representatives will include Fire Chief Michael Thurlow, and representatives from Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency, Public Safety Departments and the American Red Cross of Southern Maine. The event will feature a panel discussion, Red Cross film and informational packets to take home. A sample emergency kit, donated by Scarborough Rotary Club will be offered as a door prize.
