The Scarborough Public Library has resumed its program schedule following its closure for repairs.

Children’s storytime programs include Baby Bounces for birth to 18 months on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.; Read to Me for ages 3 and up on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.; Toddler Tales and Tunes for ages 18-36 months on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.; and Kindertales for ages 3-7 on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Books, rhymes, songs, and movement make these storytimes a favorite activity for families.

Young readers ages 4-8 and their families are also invited to wear their favorite or most outrageous pajamas on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., in honor of the beginning of a new season of Pajamarama.

A special guest is visiting this week, Baxter the Library Cat, to help celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month. Baxter is the Maine libraries’ 6-foot Maine coon cat mascot.

Feline fun will continue with a visit from the Animal Refuge League on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Children grades 3 and up are invited to learn more about what is involved in caring for a cat, and whether these companions are the right pet for their families. Registration is required by calling 883-4723 or stopping by the Youth Services desk.

This year’s children’s programming will also include a year-long “Passport to the World” theme. Each monthly program for Grades K-3 will focus on a different country using stories and crafts for inspiration. Registration is also required for this event by calling or stopping in.
