A paid training program will be offered this month for men and women 60 years and over interested in joining the Foster Grandparent or Senior Companion Program with locations throughout York and Cumberland counties.
Foster Grandparents volunteer in schools, child development centers and long-term care facilities. Senior Companions are friendly visitors to frail and vulnerable seniors who are living independently in their own homes.
Volunteers who are income eligible earn a tax-free income in return for a commitment of 15-40 hours a week. Volunteers also receive paid vacation and sick leave, assistance with meals and travel, pre-service training supervision and recognition.
The program is offered by People’s Regional Opportunity Program. For more information call 773-0202 or go to www.propeople.org.
