Main Street, looking east, as it appeared around 1945, is shown on the left. Buildings on the left included Vallee Drug Store, Tom’s Restaurant, Rocheleau Clothing, F.W. Woolworth and First National Store. Buildings on the right side of the photo – all demolished during urban renewal – are the Scates Building with LaChance Drug Store, Bernier’s Jewelry Store (became Day’s Jewelry in 1947), Hood Drug Store, Trafton’s Store, LaFond & Company and the Westbrook Congregational Church. Buildings on the left side are still standing and are being renovated. They are occupied by different businesses.
