Shady Nook was one of many summer resorts (that’s how it was advertised in the 1920s) in North Windham, which was a mecca for summer visitors. Many overnight cabins and rooming houses tempted the summer folks from away to spend a few leisurely days in the country village. Shady Nook is a familiar sight to travelers on Route 302, as it was the home of Kelton Oil and today is beside Spectrum Real Estate and Dr. Robinson’s office. Take a good look, for it will soon disappear into history and another medical building will be located here. Photo from the archives of Windham Historical Society
