Scarborough High softball player Kelsey Griffin was recently named Maine’s Gatorade Player of the Year. The senior pitcher/shortstop has helped her team to an 18-0 record and a spot in the Western Maine Class A regional final.

Through last weekend, Griffin was 13-0 in 89 innings of work on the mound this year. She’s allowed just 29 hits while striking out 148 and her earned run average is a miniscule 0.16.

At the plate, she’s batting .426 with 13 RBI and an on-base percentage of .514.

Scarborough’s Elizabeth Winslow was selected as Maine’s second Gatorade softball player of the year back in 2000.
