Graduates police academy
Gorham’s Officer Brian Key graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in a ceremony Friday at Thomas College in Waterville.
Key was one of 60 graduates from the 18-week course.
Trails Day at Shaw Park
National Trails Day will be observed Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-noon, with activities sponsored by three towns in the area of Shaw Park off Sebago Lake Road (Route 237).
Standish Recreation will present the Mountain Division Trail Family Fun 5K Walk & Run, starting 8:30 a.m. at Otter Ponds and finishing at Shaw Park.
At 9 a.m. Gorham Recreation and Boy Scout Troop No. 73 will sponsor for a Family Canoe Paddle & Play on the Presumpscot at Shaw Park. Participants can take their own canoe or kayak, or rent one from Gorham Recreation.
There will be a narrated walk at 10 a.m. at the Gambo Powder Mills sponsored by Gorham Trails and will leave from Gambo Bridge in Windham.
Windham Recreation will sponsor a family fun bike ride on the Mountain Division Trail, which will leave from Gambo Road soccer fields in Windham at 10:30 a.m.
The Shaw Park Snack Shack will be open and offering a menu enhanced by the gourmet chef at PineCrest Bed and Breakfast of Gorham.

“Spring into Summer” at Baxter party
Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St., is kicking off its summer reading programs and thanking the Gorham community for its support over the past year with a party starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 14.
Local celebrity chefs will grill up free hot dogs and snacks until 6:30 p.m. During that time, the library will also give away balloons and door prizes.
Ever wanted to be on TV? Then, record a public service announcement about the library to air on Gorham Community Access during the summer. No experience is necessary.
To cap off the celebration, longtime friends Mac McHale and Emery Hutchins will perform “Songs from Ireland: The Mountains and the Sea,” in the library at 6:30 p.m. They will play the banjo, mandolin, concertina and bodran while they regale the audience with tales of Irish heroes and lovers.
The free concert is sponsored by the Baxter Memorial Library Association.
Gorham graduation
Gorham High School graduation will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. The final day of school for seniors is Friday.
Plant, book sale
The North Gorham Public Library on North Gorham Road will have a plant and book sale Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
