Chris Moreau will leave his current athletic administrator position at Dexter Regional High School to become Scarborough High School’s athletic director. Moreau will replace Frank Spencer who’s retiring in just a few weeks. The 34-year-old Moreau will officially begin his new assignment on July 1.
“I recieved a phone call from Mrs. Conant (informing him he’d been selected) and to say I was pleased and excited is an understatement,” said Moreau. “This is the “dream job” and one that I have been hoping to get since I began my career. To couple that with having the opportunity to relocate my family to the area is a dream come true.”
Moreau attended Jay High School and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington. He’s held several teaching and administrative positions beginning at Livermore Falls Middle School and then at Sumner High School.
He’s looking forward to the responsibilities that go with being an athletic director at a Class A high school. And he’s especially pleased those responsibilities will be at Scarborough.
“The challenge of working with such a large program, with state of the art facilities, first class coaching staff, and most importantly the student/athletes themselves.” Moreau said are the main reasons he’s excited to start his new duties.
Moreau is also straightforward about his expectations for the coaches and student/athletes he’ll be working with. “A simple philosophy – scholars in the classroom, champions on the field of play. We will role model the characteristics of leadership from top down. This is easy to accomplish due to the already strong coaching staff, which
is in place. Mr. Spencer has done a tremendous job surrounding himself with true leaders in the coaching ranks. It is going to be a lot of fun working with another quality staff.”
