Clippers edge Cape

Yarmouth atoned for an earlier season loss at Cape Elizabeth with an 8-7 victory over the Capers on Monday. The Clippers (10-1) rallied from a one-goal deficit in the last four minutes of play to escape with the win.

Cape’s John Hayes had four goals.

Cape handed Yarmouth their only loss of the season back on April 28. The Capers are now 8-3 on the year and they sit atop the West B Heal Point standings with one week left in the regular season.

Riots try to secure playoff spot

The South Portland boys lacrosse team moved to 4-4 on the season with a convincing 16-4 home victory over Bonny Eagle on Monday afternoon. It was the third straight win for the Riots after starting the year at 1-4.

Ben Linscott and John Linscott did the most damage for the Riots as each player netted five goals. Sean Murray chipped in with another three goals as well.

The Riots entered the week as the No. 6 team in the West A Heal Point standings with Bonny Eagle just one spot ahead of them. The top seven teams get into the regional tourney. South Portland had a road game at Massabesic on Wednesday, May 23.
