At last year’s Walker Memorial Library Book Sale, a line had

formed before the library opened as shoppers waited for their

chance to buy bargain books.

This year’s sale, scheduled Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, June 1, 2, 4 and 5, in conjunction with Westbrook Together Days, will include all the bargains that shoppers expect, plus plenty of books perfect for gift giving or leisure enjoyment. The sale will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Thursday, May 31, from 5-7 p.m., is Preview Night. For a $10 per-person donation, shoppers can have an early opportunity to purchase items.

The proceeds of the sale will benefit the new teen services and audiovisual areas that the library is creating in the fall.

The library is now accepting book, audiobook, CD and

DVD donations for its sale. All items donated should be in good

condition. Old textbooks, encyclopedias and magazines cannot be

accepted. Items can be dropped off when the library, located at 800 Main St., is open.

Volunteers are also needed to help set up and take down

items before and after the sale. Setting up will begin on Wednesday, May 23, and will continue until the first day of the sale. Also, volunteers are needed to work during the sale. Contact Karen or Lynn at 854-0630 to volunteer or for more

information.

The sale is jointly sponsored by the Friends of the Walker Memorial

Library, the library staff and board.
