The PROP (People’s Regional Opportunity Program) Foster Grandparent Program has openings for men and women 60 and over interested in stipended volunteer positions throughout southern Maine.

Foster Grandparents provide love and wisdom for children in many settings, including child development centers, schools and hospitals. Foster Grandparents complement the work of staff by helping children build self-esteem and improve their social and academic skills.

Prior experience is not required. Foster Grandparents receive training prior to placement, earn a tax-free income and can choose from a variety of placements and schedules to share their knowledge and skills. Foster Grandparents are also eligible for paid vacations and sick leave, holidays, assistance with meals and travel, annual physical, pre-service training, supervision and recognition.
