The Bonny Eagle boys lacrosse team scored a confidence-building 11-3 win at Biddeford on Tuesday in the season opener for both clubs.
Jesse Doehler led the Scots with four goals and an assist; Zach Litif contributed at the offensive end with two goals and four assists; Kayle Hamilton scored two goals and he added an assist; and Justin Cary, Nehemiah Glavine, and Brett Dostie all chipped in with a goal apiece.
In addition, defenseman Adam Theriault led team with seven ground balls and midfielder Curran McGarry did a super job winning 16 of 17 face-offs.
Marco Stefano started in goal and he played the first three quarters making six saves on nine shots. Curtis Dyer manned the net in for fourth quarter and he finished with one save.
“The team played terrific defense over the entire field at even strength,” said Bonny Eagle coach Nat Germond. “The three goals scored against were all on Biddeford’s extra-man offense, so we obviously need to be smarter with regard to taking penalties.
“Curran McGarry was exceptional on face-offs winning 16 out of 17 which is a huge possession advantage,” said Germond. “We will need to work on our man-down defense looking to our game this Friday (the home opener against Thornton Academy).”
