TENNIS ROUND-UP
The Scarborough boys tennis team scored a 3-2 win on Monday against Marshwood. It was the first match of the season fro the Red Storm.
Scarborough’s No. 1 singles player Adam Saltz earned a 6-0, 6-0 win and No. 2 player Nick Tolman scored an equally impressive 6-0, 6-1 victory. The Red Storm’s No. 1 doubles team also picked up a point with the duo of Ethan McElwain and Nate Gove securing a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Scarborough’s girls tennis team also started the year off with a win over Marshwood. The Red Storm topped the Hawks 4-1 thanks to victories from singles players Allison Camire and Kate McDonald. The two doubles teams swept their matches with the Libby/Buttarazzi duo and the Freeman/Rowe tandem each earning straight set wins.
The South Portland boys and girls tennis teams took it on the chin on Monday with both Red Riot squads falling by 5-0 scores to strong teams from Kennebunk.
Playing singles for the South Portland girls were Brianna Jaro, Dory Crowley and Sophie Boyce. The Red Riots’ doubles teams included Becky Braley and Jessica Peruzzi at No. 1 and Meg Bagley and Patricia Lusty at No. 2.
The South Portland boys sent Nick Lagios, Baxter Key and Tanner Burgdorf into the singles competition. And the doubles squads included the pairing of Kiidii/Doucette at No. 1 and the duo of Boyce/McCosker at No. 2.
