Gorham Rescue took a man to the hospital Sunday as a precaution after a car apparently slipped from a jack while he was checking the muffler in the parking lot at 7-Eleven on Main Street.

The victim, who wasn’t pinned under the car, was sitting on a sidewalk when Officer Brent Frank arrived at about 2 p.m.

“He was conscious and alert,” Frank said. “He was talking.”

According to police, the man was struck in the chest as the vehicle fell off the jack.

The victim’s name wasn’t available at the scene.
