The Maine State Pomological Society is pleased to announce its third annual Maine Apple Sunday poster contest, which is open to Maine students in grades four through six.
Complete guidelines are available online at www.maineapples.org. Entries may be sent to MSPS, c/o Highmoor Farm, P.O. Box 179, Monmouth, ME 04259. The deadline is Tuesday, May 1. The winning design will be announced by Friday, May 11.
Interested classrooms, or individual children, are encouraged to submit designs promoting the fun and nutritional tradition of apple harvesting on an 8-by-11-inch piece of paper.
Each design should include the child’s name, age, phone number, school and teacher. The winning artist’s classroom will receive a $100 donation and an Apple Celebration party. The winning illustration and slogan will be used to promote Maine Apple Sunday, which will be held this year on Sept. 9.
