Some very young wrestlers from Westbrook competed at last Saturday’s Maine State Youth Wrestling Championships at Noble High School. Hundreds of Maine kids from kindergarten through sixth grade took part in this annual event.
Westbrook’s Joel Dawe reached the championship finals in the Bantam Division; Derek Breunig went to the championship finals in the Midget Division; Isaiah Dawe reached the consolation finals in the Midget Division; D. J. Breunig went to the championship finals in the Novice Division; Iain Whitis reached the consolation finals in the Novice Division; and Ryan Lund qualified for the consolation finals in the Novice Division.
On Saturday, some of these youngsters will compete at the New England Youth Wrestling Championships being held at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland.
