Celebrating stories
More than 50 people enjoyed the “Warm up with Storytelling” Family Celebration at Warren Memorial Library on Feb. 10.
The audience was treated to performances of winter-themed folk tales by several local professional storytellers. All of the performers are members of the League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling.
In recognition of the league’s 25th anniversary, storytelling audio collections with over 50 recordings were donated to seven selected community libraries in New England in recognition of the libraries’ demonstrated support of the oral storytelling tradition.
Warren Memorial Library is the only library in the state of Maine to receive this gift, said children’s librarian Kathy Kigin said. These recordings are now available in both the children’s and adult collections for library patrons to check out.
For more information, contact Kigin at 854-5891.
