Bangor won last week’s Class A boys state swim meet, but the Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth teams finished third and fourth respectively in the annual battle for pool supremacy. The Rams scored 307 points followed by Westbrook (253), Scarborough (241.5), and Cape Elizabeth (233) at the top of the 23-team field. South Portland scored 20 points.
Scarborough’s top individual swims came from Jon Russell (state champion in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke), Sam Ledue (eighth in the 1-meter diving competition), Thomas Spencer (fifth in the 100 butterfly), Kaycee Stevens (seventh in the 100 free), Nick Twomey (fourth in the 100 backstroke).
Cape Elizabeth’s best individual times were turned in by Nick Daly (state champion in both the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle), Zach Gavin (seventh in the 200 free and fifth in the 500 free), Alex McFarlane (fourth in the 50 free and second in the 100 breaststroke), Miles Kelley (seventh in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 back), and Bogie Foden (fourth in the 1-meter diving event).
The Cape Elizabeth foursome of Gavin, Kelley, McFarlane and Daly also won the state championship in the 400 freestyle relay race.
South Portland earned points with Joe McGreehan’s second-place effort in the 1-meter diving competition.
