The Cape Elizabeth boys basketball team moved into the West B quarterfinals with a 79-56 prelim victory over 10th seeded Poland last Thursday.

Cape was off and running from the opening tip. The hosts raced to a 32-8 lead after one quarter and they held a 44-24 advantage at the break.

Alex Bowe led four Cape players in double figures with 14. Shaine Burks contributed with 13 points, Austin Brown added 11 and Andrew Dickey chipped in with 10. William Hall also had a nice offensive showing with nine points.

The No. 7 Capers (11-8) took on No. 2 York (13-5) on Tuesday afternoon in a quarterfinal match-up at the Portland Expo.

Cape dropped a pair of five-point decisions to the Wildcats in regular season play. York scored a 63-58 win over the Capers back on Dec. 22 and then won at Cape by a 71-66 margin on two weeks ago on Feb. 6.
