A Cape Elizabeth Special Olympic team competed at the Maine State Special Olympics Games at Sugarloaf on January 28-30. There were six athletes and three coaches who traveled to the games and competed in bitter cold weather.
Rudy Pelzer competed in the 100 meter and 500 meter Nordic events. Thomas Bourdeaux and Nolan Dorrance competed in the 25 meter and 50 meter dash snowshoe events. And Shawn Hall, Abby Theriault and Anna Bulger competed in the 50 meter and 100 meter dash snowshoe events. The athletes all earned medals in their respective events.
