The Scarborough girls’ indoor track team continued its undefeated season on Saturday, defeating Gorham, Windham and Westbrook at the Portland Expo.
Scarborough finished with 147 points while Gorham was second with 80.
All Southwestern Maine Activities Association teams will compete in the Southwestern Championship meet Saturday at the Expo, with Scarborough considered the favorites among the girls’ teams.
“We’ll look for the kids to continue form,” said Scarborough coach Ron Kelly. “It is still another chance for kids to qualify for the state meet and improve times. For the young kids it’s a chance to be in a big meet situation, get them used to what it is like to be in a championship meet, especially the freshman. It’s going to be good for them.”
Individual winners for Scarborough on Saturday were Hilary Curtis (600), Erica Jesseman (two mile), Annie Mills (Sr. 45 hurdles, Sr. 200), Victoria Joyce (800), Catie Funk (Jr. shot put), Jenny Snyder (Jr. 45 hurdles), Jenna Van Dam (Jr. 200), Lauren Blaisdell (Jr. 40) and Lily Parenteau (high jump).

“We did what we had to do,” said Kelly of Saturday’s meet. “We were a ways ahead of everybody, but we have a lot of depth to spread people around. That’s one of our strengths.”
