The Bonny Eagle and Lake Region High ice hockey teams were both in action this past Saturday with the Scots taking on Marshwood and the Lakers meeting South Portland.

The Scots traveled to Dover, N.H., to take on Marshwood. Bonny Eagle looked strong as they cruised to a 5-0 win.

Nate Jewell and Travis Dunn each scored in the first period to give the Scots the edge. In the middle period, Dunn picked up his second goal and Kayle Hamilton scored his first. Joe Mendes added another for Bonny Eagle in the third period.

Cody Bradway had 21 saves to earn the shutout as the Scots improve to 8-2. They were scheduled to take on South Portland on Wednesday night. And they host Massabesic/OOB on Saturday.

The Lake Region hockey team met up with South Portland last Saturday and the Lakers managed to squeak by with a 9-8 win.

South Portland jumped out to a comfortable 4-1 lead after the first period thanks to a pair of goals from Bob Basinet.

Lake Region managed to get three goals in the second with two scores coming from Nick Marshall. But South Portland added another three goals to their total and they maintained that same three goal cushion entering the third period.

The Lakers overcame that large deficit over the final 15 minutes of play when Marshall scored the tying goal with just under four minutes left in regulation.

Just when it seemed the game was headed for overtime, Marshall struck again. With five seconds to play, the Laker forward stuffed the puck into the net for his sixth goal of the game to give the Lakers the win.

With the victory the Lakers improved to 6-5. They will take the ice against Leavitt on Saturday.
