In a meeting of two of the better swim programs in the state, Scarborough’s boys and girls emerged victorious in last weekend’s regular season battle with Falmouth.
The Red Storm boys had little trouble with the Yachtsmen taking a 63-31 win while the Red Storm girls edged their Falmouth counterparts by a narrow 48-46 margin.
Scarborough’s boys had first-place finishes from Thomas Spencer (200 freestyle), Nick Twomey (200 individual medley), Kaycee Stevens (50 freestyle and 100 free), and Jon Russell (100 breaststroke).
The Scarborough boys also swept all three relay races. The winning 200 medley relay team included Twomey, Russell, Ryan Whelan, and Stevens. The 200 freestyle relay team was led by Spencer Adam Leatherbee, Peter Griffin and Bryant Shannon. And the winning foursome of the 400 freestyle included Stevens, Spencer, Twomey and Russell.
The Scarborough girls needed every point they could get in their meet. The top swims were turned in by Nicole Harmon (first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke), and Brittanie Bradley (first in the 100 breaststroke).
Second-place points were earned by Christine Beecher (200 IM), Allison Rogers (50 free and 100 free), Hanna Flewelling (500 free), and Anna Wagner (100 breaststroke).
The Red Storm won the 200 freestyle relay behind the efforts of Rogers, Elizabeth Couillard, Bradley and Harmon.
