On behalf of the staff and residents of Westbrook Housing’s senior and disabled residents, many thanks to those who made possible a very special holiday event this year.

Thanks to their generosity, some 100 residents participated in a special Holiday Tour of Lights in December.

First thanks to six local businesses – Westbrook’s Business Networking International (BNI) group, Kilbride & Harris Insurance Services, CCB, Inc., Seabrook Solutions, Disability RMS and St. Germain & Associates, Inc., whose donations made the event possible.

And, a huge nod of thanks to our own Rene Daniel, Westbrook Housing’s human resources director, who, on his own time, organized and led the tour.

With “Santa Rene” at the helm, the sleigh (aka the Westbrook Housing van) made nine, separate, two-hour trips to view displays of lights throughout the area – to Prides Corner and the Longfellow Street areas in Westbrook, to the Gorham Town Hall and Gateway community, and to Deering Oaks, Congress Street and the Old Port in Portland. There was even a stop for hot chocolate.

For many residents of our communities, it was a highlight of the season. Thanks to those who made it possible.
