The first regular session of the 123rd Legislature has convened and state Sen. Barry Hobbins (D-York County) would like to remind area schools that trips to the State House in Augusta are available to students.
“School trips up to the Capitol are a valuable opportunity for students to learn and experience first hand how their government works at the state level,” Hobbins said. “It is important to understand how government functions and hopefully it will encourage some of our younger citizens to take an interest in civic involvement.”
Contact the Maine State Museum, at 287-2301, or Hobbins’ office, at 287-1515, for more information.
Hobbins is the state Senator for District 5. He represents the communities of Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Buxton, Dayton, and part of Biddeford.
