Gorham’s first clergyman, the Rev. Solomon Lombard, and his wife, Sarah Purington, are buried in the Fort Hill Cemetery. He was born in 1702 and died in 1781. The couple married in 1724 in Truro, Mass. They joined the Turo church about 1734. He was pastor of Gorham’s First Parish Church 1750 to 1764, according to the inscription on this gravestone. Some of their descendants live in Gorham today.
