South Portland built a big first-quarter lead and never looked back, defeating Thornton Academy, 63-36, Friday at home.
The Red Riots led, 20-6 after the first quarter, thanks in large part to Kelsey Flaherty, who scored 10 of her game-high 19 points in the frame.
Danielle McCusker (11) and Christina Aceto (10) also scored in double digits. Jessica Aceto knocked down two 3-pointers en route to eight points.
Earlier in the week the Red Riots fell to Deering, 48-28. They play again at Noble Jan. 2.
Cape Elizabeth played its closest game of the season, but couldn’t break into the win column, falling to York, 40-36, at home Friday.
Brennan Balfour scored nine for the Capers who continue their regular season Jan. 3 at home against Windham.
Scarborough defeated Marshwood, 59-49 at home last Tuesday. Reegan Bracket led the way with 16 points, sinking seven free throws and a three-pointer.
Scarborough led 26-22 at the half and held off a 21-point fourth quarter by the Hawks by scoring 24 of their own in the frame.
Christy Manning added 13 points for the Red Storm.
The Red Storm fell at Bonny Eagle on Friday, 58-53.
Scarborough outscored the Scots 19-10 in the third quarter and led late in the fourth, but a pair of free throws gave Bonny Eagle the lead for good.
The Red Storm trailed, 29-18, at the half before getting back into the game in the third quarter.
