The Kiwanis Club of Westbrook has donated $2,000 to the Mission Possible Teen Center to support the center’s Incentive Store.

The store helps to teach youth responsibility and accountability for their behaviors, according to Evelyn Blanchard, teen center executive director.

John Bernier, president of the Westbrook Kiwanis said the store fits with the ideals of Kiwanis.

“Kiwanis is committed to serving the children of the world, one child, one program, and one community at a time,” Bernier said. “What could be better than teaching teens the types of life experiences that require them to earn credits to buy ‘stuff’ from the store.”

Justin Churchill, a regular at the center, agreed. “You have to work to get points to use at the store, and that’s a good idea because it keeps us busy and out of trouble,” he said.
