Scarborough Christmas historical ornament still available
The Legion has recently come across several bulbs from the last five years of the Scarborough historical bulb series. The Post 76 baseball team will make them available for sale over the next two weeks – along with the few bulbs remaining from this year’s offering – the North Scarborough Grange Hall.
The bulbs from recently past years, very popular with collectors who have tried to obtain and keep the bulbs from each of the 20 years the series has been done, feature Bayley’s Lobster Pound; Spurwink Country Kitchen Restaurant, Bette’s Place diner, and Scarborough High.
For information on the bulb sales, contact Dan Warren at 883-4l67 or by e-mail at dwarren@jwlawfirm.com.
People interested in the older bulbs may stop by the Oak Hill Professional Building, 243 Route One, while supplies last. For the current 2006 ornaments featuring the North Scarborough Grange Hall, celebrating its 95th year of existence, buyers may visit one of these locations: Scarborough Town Hall, Brown Fox Printing, Scarborough Exxon, Creative Awards Trophy shop, Konica Photo-Focused on You, Saco Biddeford Savings Institution, Norway Savings Bank and, Robin Thurston, and State Farm Insurance.
Blood donors and Scarborough baseball fans
Please mark Feb. 27 on your calendar to give blood at the annual Libby-Mitchell American Legion Post 76 blood drive done in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
The blood drive, which will be the seventh consecutive annual drive by the Legion baseball team, is tentatively scheduled to be held again at the Scarborough Police Station from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Since we are once again attempting to gain the state record for American Legion baseball blood drives – if we get enough pre-drive sign-ups – we will move the drive to a different location. A bigger spot would be needed to accommodate more nurses, donor stations, equipment, etc. Red Cross guidelines say you can give every 59 days. So if you give this week or next, you can still give on Feb. 27!! (On the other hand, if you give in January, you will be unavailable to help the baseball team reach its goal on Feb. 27.
Thanks for your past and future support, and Merry Christmas.
