Coach’s outlook: “We have a great backcourt in TJ Tandberg and Travis Guerrette and some great leadership in our other seniors. With the array of very talented young talent, we should be competitive in our league. We will need to improve defensively and let the young and old learn to gel in order to compete with the big dogs – Portland, Bonny Eagle, Cheverus, and Deering.”

Girls Varsity Basketball

Coach: Jessie Mayol (first season)

Winter 2005-06 Record: 3-15

Key veterans: “As a whole they all have very different personalities but when they step on a court they have a goal in mine. There is great senior leadership. Even though there are only two captains, we have eight seniors willing to take a leadership role.”

Key newcomers: “The newcomers are coming in confident. Some are taking key roles with minutes. I am still trying to put the pieces together as far as who should play with whom. We had a good pre season and I think they are ready for the regular season to start.”

Coach’s outlook: “Windham has had a strong basketball program in the past. My ideal goal is to get them back to where they used to be as a tournament competitive team. I’d like to get to the civic center and the playoffs, but mostly we’d like to improve on last year and take it game-by-game and step-by-step. They are good athletes and work hard.”

Boys Varsity Indoor Track

Coach: Paula Pock (fourth season)

Key veterans: Travis Cook, Sr, spring,, long jump; Anthony Ruggerio, So., sprints; Nick Kimball, Sr., shot put; Adam Linden, Jr., high jump, pole vault, hurdles; Dylan Janosik.

Key newcomers: Julian Gazzeloni, sprints; Colin Mello, hurdles; Brock Norberg, sprints; Patrick Ciez, high jump, hurdles.

Coach’s outlook: “Last year we had only 15 runners, so our team record was not that great, but we had some really solid performers. This year we have 25-plus boys out and they are all strong athletes so we are hoping to improve on last year’s record. We look to have some really strong relays and individuals, so I believe we will surprise a lot of other teams.”
