Haven’s Candies in Westbrook held a fundraising event Saturday for The Center for Grieving Children, which helps provide support for childlren during traumatic experiences. The candy shop opened up its doors for customers to create their own candy canes. Haven’s employee Roger Hilden, above, readies the cooked candy-cane mixture for the taffy pull process, when it begins to turn white. At left, some customer-made canes harden up.
