Walker Memorial Library open house
What could be better during the busy holiday season than an opportunity to enjoy a Victorian-themed Christmas tree, seasonal music, hot-spiced tea and a roaring fire?
If that sounds appealing, then plan to join the Friends of the Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., for its annual open house noon-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14.
A special awards ceremony and retirement party will take place from 3:30-5 p.m. to honor Pat Larrabee, the children’s librarian who is retiring after 35 years of service.
Also during this time, Marion Broaddus will be recognized for 17 years of service as a library trustee. Ted Angel, library regent from Ward 2, will also be recognized for his service.
Plenty of food and entertainment will be available during the open house. At 1p.m., the Westbrook High School Bell Ringers will perform, and the Chopin Club will perform from noon-4 p.m.
