Connolly in concerts here and Lincoln Center

Soprano Heather Connolly presents Christmas concerts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., and then at St. Paul the Apostle Church at Lincoln Center in New York City on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

The concerts will feature works by Mozart, Handel, Gounod and many traditional holiday favorites.

A native of Westbrook, Connolly has appeared in operas, concerts and recitals throughout America, Europe and Africa. Recent solo engagements include concerts with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra in Russia, the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra in New York, and in Italy with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo.

Connolly’s recent appearances in opera include the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” and the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” with Delaware Valley Opera and Hudson Opera Theatre in New York. She is a graduate of The Renata Scotto Opera Academy in Italy, and a student of Luciano Pavarotti in New York City.

St. Pierre, Rice wedding

Susan J. St. Pierre and Ryan S. Rice were married on Sept. 30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish. A reception followed the ceremony at Keeley the Katerer.

The bride is the daughter of Philip and Lucille St. Pierre of Westbrook. The groom is the son of Alfredo and Ruth Caraballo, Biddeford.

The matron of honor was Michelle Preston, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Amy Hagar and Sheri Fasulo. The flower girl was Julia Preston.

The best man was Randy Rice, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Alfie Caraballo and Jon Ross. The ring bearer was Samuel Preston.

The bride is a graduate of Westbrook High School and the University of Southern Maine, holding a bachelor’s degree in business. She is currently employed by Sappi Fine Paper.

The groom graduated from Westbrook High School, as well as Central Maine Technical College. He is currently employed by Lee Auto Mall as an automotive technician.

Following their wedding, the newlyweds enjoyed their honeymoon in Nevada, visiting the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. They reside in Saco.

Brown to entertain; seniors plan trip

Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

Following the business meeting, Erica Brown will play the fiddle.

The group is planning a Massachusetts trip on Dec. 15 to dine and attend two shows besides viewing the holiday lights.

Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 17 Dunn St.

A business meeting will follow a catered meal.

Historians to hear Hawkes

The Westbrook Historical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 6, at 17B Dunn St.

Local bluegrass musician Al Hawkes will provide a program on his music recording business in Westbrook. The meeting is free and open to the public.
