Buxton will unveil its Korean War Memorial in a Veterans Day ceremony at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Groveville.
All veterans and the public are invited to attend the ceremony.
The memorial is at the intersection where Turkey Lane converges with Flaggy Meadow, Church Hill and Hurlin Smith roads.
The monument consists of three black-granite stones imported from South Africa. Each stone is seven feet high and weighs two tons. The etched stones, which depict two soldiers flanking an American flag, have been placed to be visible from approaches to the intersection square.
The memorial will be finished next spring when curbing is installed and landscaping completed.
The memorial was made possible by donations from citizens, veterans, friends and the Narragansett 1 Foundation.
