Congratulations on golden anniversary

Former Westbrook residents Nina and Walter Braley of Standish recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with a 12-day cruise to the Mediterranean.

Also their family, Lu Ann McLaughlin, Charlene Fraser, Lisa Spearin, Cheryl Lavoie and Rodney Braley, honored them with a celebration at Keeley the Katerers in Portland.

The couple married on July 14, 1956, in the First Baptist Church in South Gorham.

She was an Avon district sales manager and he was the manager at the Animal Refuge League. They lived in Westbrook for 35 years.

Seniors to hear band

The Mathieu Band will play when the Westbrook Senior Citizens meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

Marching band in finals

After being rained out last Saturday, the Westbrook High School Marching Band is gearing up for the Maine State Marching Band finals at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford

“The marching band has performed five shows this season, and is eagerly anticipating performing their Latin Explosion show at finals,” said Phil Rich, music director for Westbrook schools.

Twelve other high school bands are participating in the show including Marshwood, Sanford, South Portland, Wells, Lewiston, Edward Little, Biddeford and Old Orchard Beach.

Class of 1957 plans reunion

Westbrook High School class of 1957 is in the process of planning for its 50th class reunion.

Dave Martin said about 20 classmates gather the last Wednesday of each mount for lunch and discuss possible locations and events to celebrate this milestone.

“As of this writing it looks like there will be activities planned over a three-day period,” Martin said. “We are trying to locate a few missing classmates and would greatly appreciate any information anyone might have that would help us locate them.”

Those classmates are trying to contact include Barbara and Sandra Darling, Sylvia (Lacasse) Perry, Corrine Martin, Janet (Saucier) Farley and Treavor Lord.
