The city Of Westbrook has scheduled a yard waste collection program. This program is to assist the citizens of Westbrook in disposing of yard waste and garden debris.
The items eligible for collection and disposal are as follows:
• Tree Branches – tree branches that are 4 inches or less in diameter stacked butt end at curbside. No large trees , or stumps.
• Bagged Leaves and Grass Clippings – the use of biodegradable bags is required for curbside collection. Please be sure that there is no animal waste mixed in with the leaves and grass. Please note that there is a 50-pound weight limit per bag.
• Brush – brush stacked at curbside
• Garden Debris – in bags (biodegradable bags required) and placed at curbside. Cornstalks stacked at curbside will also be collected.
• Limit – Limit to one seven-yard truckload of yard waste per residency.
• Separated – All waste categories to be collected must be separated.
The collection program will begin on Oct. 30, 2006, and end on Nov. 9, 2006.
A drop-off area will be set up at the Westbrook Public Services building at 371 Saco St. The building will be open to receive yard waste during the two week program, Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The disposal area will be open for leaves and brush prior to and after the program dates during regular business hours, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. No plastic bags will be accepted at the drop-off facility. Only biodegradable bags may be placed in the leaf receptacle. The program is provided for non-commercial Westbrook residents only, proof of residency will be required (car registration, drivers license, or tax bill receipt).
Note: This is not a program for household waste and/or clean-up items. Tree branches, brush and garden waste must be placed at curbside for collection on Oct. 30.
Bagged leaves must be placed curbside for collection on Monday, Oct. 30 or Nov. 9. No return trips will be made for these items.
