Historians to hear Mishkin

David Mishkin of Just Black & White Photo will present a program about conservation of old photographs at the Westbrook Historical Society meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, on the second floor at 17 Dunn St.

Mishkin will display examples of his work.

The program is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Brownies apple treat

Westbrook Brownie Girl Scout Troop 2316 recently spent a fun-filled day at Randall Farm in Standish picking apples.

While there, the girls enjoyed a ride, as a tractor pulled a wagon to the fields. Then, the girls earned a cooking badge by making apple sauce and apple crisp.

The girls who participated are Kelsey Cavanaugh, Alexis Maxwell, Jenna Driscoll, Emily Cyr, Elizabeth Richardson, Rachel Gilbert, Sara Gowen, Alisha Aube, Gabrielle Price and Cydney Price.

Paula Gowen is the troop leader.

Fajita Grill grand opening

Fajita Gill hosted a grand opening Thursday at 857 Main St.

Owner William Fuentes and his staff will be serving a menu that includes authentic Mexican dishes and seafood specials. The restaurant will have lunch specials and also will have a menu for kids.

The restaurant has a bar in addition to a dining area.

Post 62 to meet

The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at its headquarters, 17 Dunn St.

A business meeting will follow a dinner.

Gray earns college honor

Matthew T. Gray was recognized on Oct. 6 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick for his academic excellence.

Gray was designated a Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholar in an annual ceremony at the college. A member of the class of 2008, Gray finished in the top 20 percent of his class for grade point average last year.
