A driver, a juvenile passenger and an infant were taken to a hospital following a two-car crash shortly after 1 p.m. today on Route 25 in Gorham.

The accident closed both lanes of traffic on the busy road between Mosher’s Corner and Bartlett Road for about 30 minutes.

Police said a blue SUV, driven by Kellie Battaglia of Gorham, collided with a four-door Buick Century, driven by Joseph Prescott of Portland. Battaglia was pulling out of the Irving gas station and Prescott was traveling eastbound on Route 25 towards Westbrook.

Gorham Officer Dana Thompson said Prescott, a 15-year-old juvenile and a three-month-old infant were hospitalized. Battaglia and two young children that were in the car with her, ages 3 and 5, appeared unhurt at the scene.

Gorham’s Sgt. Robert Mailman heard the crash from the nearby Dunkin’ Donuts. “It was a pretty good bang,” Mailman said.

Thompson said speed didn’t appear to be a factor. The speed limit on that stretch of Route 25 is 45 mph.
