The Walker Memorial Library on Main Street in Westbrook has a full schedule of events this month.

The regular story hours continue each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s room. There will be a special story hour on Oct. 26 featuring Mrs. Maine and a player from Portland’s Raging Bulls football team.

Following the story hours on Oct. 17 and 19, the library will be holding “preemie parties.” These are baby showers featuring preemie items in support of the March of Dimes Preemie Project to raise awareness about Maine’s premature birth epidemic. Items made or collected will be donated to the neonatal intensive care hospitals.

The library will also hold two craft days this month. On Saturday, Oct. 14 the program will feature a leaf craft and on Sat. Oct. 28, the craft will be pumpkin painting. Both craft days begin at 1:30 p.m., and participants in the pumpkin painting on Oct. 28 are asked to bring their own pumpkin.

The library’s monthly adult reader’s group will meet on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. to discuss “Jonathan Fisher: Maine Parson” by Mary Ellen Chase.

The Friends of Walker Memorial Library will meet on Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. New Friends are always welcome.

The library is open on Saturdays during the fall and winter from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
